Rooms & suites

- a good night sleep and a glimps of the golden age!

Our hotel has three wings named "Dronningen" from 1902, "Sorenskriveren" from 1968, and "Herredsstyret" from 1981. Additionally, we have the corridor of "Gjendineggen" in the oldest part of the hotel. Our guest rooms are of varying sizes, starting from standard double rooms in the most recent addition and going up to single bedrooms, family rooms, and mini-suites in the historic wings. We have made an effort to maintain the originality and identity of each era in all our guest rooms

"Dronningen" is decorated in soothing light colours that people often associate with their grandmothers' homes. You can let your mind wander and dream about different times while lying on beds of royal quality. This grand building and wing were decorated in the past for the guests of the royal families, which becomes evident when seeing copies of postcards sent from Fefor by Queen Maud, retrieved from the royal archives. She refers to this wing as "Our House" and points out the various rooms where family members stayed when they came to visit for their holidays. Therefore, the rooms carry the names of the royal family members who stayed in them.

Fridtjof Nansen, a dear friend of the royal family, often visited Fefor whose visits are preserved by photographs seen at both Fefor and the National Library. In addition to the Norwegian Royal Family, Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands was also on the exclusive guest list who visited Fefor, especially this wing, as a recreational retreat on her many visits to Norway.

Another chapter in our history ties Fefor to Sir Robert Falcon Scott. After recommendations by Fridtjof Nansen, Scott chose to do his training at Fefor, in preparation for the journey to the South Pole. They also stayed in this beautiful building, which is why some rooms carry the names of Scott and his men.

A tall and prominent building is located across from the "Dronningen" area. The rooms and suites in this wing are adorned with authentic farm furniture from "Gudbrandsdalen", wallpaper with rose motifs, and beautiful carpets embellished with stars. These rooms provide the ideal environment for a good night's sleep.

The oldest building at Fefor is called "Gjendineggen" after the decorations from Ibsen's Peer Gynt. It offers a variety of rooms, including family rooms, double rooms, and suites. Each room in this corridor is unique, and we have also included carefully selected single rooms, perfect for solo travellers who still want to be close to the heart of the hotel. These rooms feature the oldest beds in the hotel, dating back to the golden age with spring mattresses, which we have preserved. However, we have replaced the old mattresses with luxury ones from Jensen, combined with a luxurious topper, so you can sleep like royalty.
